Alessandro Del Piero
Alessandro Del Piero was born in Conegliano on November 9th 1974 but grew up in Saccon, part of the nearby municipality of San Vendemiano.
Former Italian footballer, playing as forward, world champion with the Italian national team in 2006, he was reported as one of the greatest talents of his generation since his youth and is considered among the best players in the history of Italian football. Captain of Juventus from 2001 to 2012, with the Turin club he won numerous trophies at national and international level, establishing the absolute primacy of goals and presences.
He was nicknamed by Gianni Agnelli Pinturicchio for the elegance of his style, stood out above all for his great one-two skills, dribbling and assisting his teammates. He is considered one of the greatest specialists in free kicks and was also an excellent penalty taker .
A particular type of goal with a shooting range from the left corner of the penalty area towards the far corner crossing is called by press and public “alla Del Piero”.
Daniel Canzian
Daniel Canzian was born on February 8th 1980 in Conegliano. He studied in Vittorio Veneto from 1994 to 1998 and his passion for cooking began in a town near Venice, where his family had a restaurant. He worked at the restaurant Dolada (2 Michelin stars) and restaurant Tivoli (1 Michelin star), but his professional life changed completely in 2005 when he met Gualtiero Marchesi. He worked for Maestro Marchesi and became Executive Chef of the Il Marchesino restaurant at the Teatro alla Scala in 2008. In 2010 he received the “Pellegrino Artusi” award as best young Chef of the year. In 2011 he became the Executive Chef of the Gualtiero Marchesi group, which has always emphasized how important his experience in France had been from Pierre and Jean Troisgros, to Roanne. In 2011 Canzian decided to study French cuisine carefully and had the opportunity to meet and work with Maestro Michel Troisgros and his son Cesar.
In 2013 he opened his restaurant in Milan in Via San Marco Angolo Castelfidardo, called DANIEL, contemporary Italian cuisine.
Piero Benvenuti
Piero Benvenuti is Professor of Astrophysics of High Energy at the University of Padua, where he also holds the courses “Space Plasma Physics” and “History of Astronomy”. He is Director of the Interdepartmental Center for Space Sciences and Activities “G. Colombo ”of the University of Padua. Previously he was European scientific manager of the Hubble Space Telescope and President of the National Institute of Astrophysics. He is actively interested in the dialogue between science and theology. He teaches the course “Creation and evolution” at the Theological Faculty of the Triveneto di Padova and participates in the STOQ Project in the programs of the Pontifical Universities of St. Thomas Aquinas and Gregorian. Since 2011 he has been Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Culture. He collaborates with the newspapers “Corriere della Sera”, “Avvenire” and “L’Osservatore Romano”.
Paolo De Coppi
Raised in Santa Lucia di Piave, a small town in the province of Treviso, he obtained a scientific degree in 1991 in Conegliano, then in 1997 he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua with 110 cum laude with a thesis from title “Model of gastroschisis in the rabbit: study of histological modifications of the intestine”. He enrolled at the University Pediatric Surgery School, thus achieving specialization. He carries out various studies abroad: between October 1998 and March 1999 he is in Amsterdam where he carries out a research project concerning the hepatoblastoma. Then, between June 2000 and February 2002 he was in Boston, in the United States, at the “Laboratory for Tissue Engineering and Cellular Therapeutics” of the Children’s Hospital (Harvard University) directed by Dr. Anthony Atala. During this intense period he has the opportunity to deepen his knowledge concerning cell extractions and cell cultures for cell therapy and tissue engineering; focuses in particular on its interests towards stem cells, it also carries out studies on fetal malformations trying to develop alternatives to fetal surgery, which can be dangerous both for the child and for the mother. In 2003 the municipality of Conegliano awarded him the «Civilitas Award» with this motivation: «Young and brilliant scientist whose intuitions have contributed to open ambitious horizons in the treatment of serious pathologies, giving new hopes to the humanity that suffers. To be able to draw from their professionalism effective tools for the pursuit of progress aimed at protecting the integrity of the person both from a biological and ethical point of view »Rita Levi-Montalcini is also present. Later, after a period of work at the Pediatric Clinic of the University of Padua, he moved to London, where he currently lives, with his wife and daughters, becoming the primary surgeon and researcher of the most famous pediatric hospital in Europe, the Great Ormond Street.
