Former Convent of San Francesco
The numerous religious orders play an important role in the assistance and economic growth of the city and that emerge in Conegliano from the beginning of the XI century. Among these include the Friars Minor of St. Francis whose presence dates back to the early thirteenth century.
Vast complex of buildings built by the Franciscans between 1371 and 1411.
It reached its maximum expansion in the XVIII century, including two cloisters with a central well, a large church with a single nave with nine altarpieces and an apse overlooking the Madonna della Neve, a new wing, built in 1708, as a novitiate, a large brolo and a rich library with 127 codes. Today the convent complex remains the main cloister, which reveals the ancient Renaissance charm.
Inside the Cloister, in the large courtyard, there is the seventeenth-century pozzale and surrounding it, forming a frame, are elegant round arches, supported by columns with capitals made of composite style.
